Trojieritu (Sacrificial knife) Pronunciation: “Troh-jiy-ee-reet-too” Plural: “Trojieriti” (“Troh-jiy-ee-reety”) Crovalahn priests conduct their bloodthirsty and nightmarish rituals using a very elaborate and specialised sacrificial knife… the curving blades especially sharp to better piece the hearts of their tormented victims. We believe the crovalahn call these knives trojieritu, and the weapon itself resembles a double-sided casavado; although the crescent blades are sharper, thinner and generally useless in melee combat. Unsurprisingly, trojieritu are considered holy instruments by the crovalahn, and anything but an ordained priest using the trojieritu is immediately sacrificed by the knife’s admitted owner, using the blade itself. Use and techniques Trojieritu aren’t weapons suited for combat, and the blades are too weak and thin to be of much use against anything that isn’t sprawled upon a sacrificial altar. As the weapons are exclusively crafted from dark ion, only crovalahn are capable of clasping the trojieritu’s bejewelled handle. Even then, only priests, interrogators and high-ranking servants of the crovalahn’s brutal society are permitted with the honour of the trojieritu’s use. The arched blades are specifically shaped to slide effortlessly into a victim’s chest and sever the impaled heart from bleeding tissues. Composition Unsurprisingly, trojieritu are customarily forged from dark iron, and twisted prayers penned in dried blood ordain the blade, hilt and handle. Each of the prayers is horrifically complicated and beyond comprehension of any non-crovalahn, although it’s believed that the more sacrifices the trojieritu’s taken, the more prayers are inscribed. As mentioned beforehand, the trojieritu’s curved blades are too thin to be efficient on the battlefield, although many crovalahn war-priests are known to carry a trojieritu with them as they march onto the battlefield… ripping the hearts from prone soldiers in some improvised ritual while combat rages. Other species have little-to-no use for the trojieritu whatsoever, and sacrificial ceremonies performed by other species are usually conducted using ordinary knives (some of which are forged specifically to duplicate the trojieritu’s exacting design, so as to better penetrate the hearts of their victims). |
