Mysistoe Blade
Pronunciation: “My-siss-toe blade”

Effective against lightly-armoured opponents, mysistoe blades are particularly suited to disarming and parrying techniques, and are exceptionally deadly in the hands of those who’re proficient with them. Mysistoe blades are comprised of a thin, curved blade arching across a weighted stone, connected to a pair of leather straps. When wielded, a user grips both straps tightly and whirls the blade in circular, spinning movements that can be both disorientating and impressive to onlookers. Building momentum allows the arched blade to cut deeply into a victim’s flesh, and still maintain the blade’s increasing velocity. While this weapon is exceptionally effective against unprotected and poorly-armoured opponents, it has considerable difficulty against heavily-armoured warriors, or creatures with powerfully-built carapaces.

Users who have trained themselves so thoroughly with mysistoe blades are reportedly seen dual-wielding pairs of spinning blades in combat, wielding them with both spectacular proficiency and outlandish flair. Nearly all attacks made with equally-sized weapons are either deflected or torn from a user’s grip with startling accuracy, the whirling blades of the two spinning blades creating a spinning barrier of deflecting blades around the user’s blinding movements. While many such displays are quickly dismissed as immature, flaunting one’s own fighting skill, few can deny that any warrior specialized with dual-wielding the graceful mysistoe blade can ever be taken lightly in combat.
