Chakathra Pronunciation: “Chack-ath-rah” Once a derivation of the lighter, weaker mysistoe blade, the chakathra was gradually developed over time as a weapon suited for brutal smashing techniques. A tremendous iron orb replaces the mysistoe blade’s arched edge, swung around in circular motions that crush bones and dislodge limbs, rather then inflicting light cuts upon an opponent’s exposed areas. Two heavy iron chains are riveted upon the ball’s sides, replacing the original leather straps to support the orb’s hefty weight. When wielded, warriors swing the chakathra much as they would the smaller mysistoe blade, gathering momentum and force as they swing the crushing ball’s surface into an opponent’s defences. The chakathra’s strength lies in its ability to land devastating impacts upon heavily-armoured opponents, whilst still allowing dexterous users their speed, techniques and style… whereas the majority of other large, powerful weapons are considerably clumsy and awkward when wielded. Composition Chakathra are sometimes fashioned to match their original designs when they were first derived as a variant build from the mysistoe blade… smaller, lighter orbs built upon two leather straps. While these smaller variants lack the chakathra’s typical crushing impact, they allow even greater style and dexterity in combat then the larger varieties. Chakathras forged to match their original, weaker designs have been given the misleading nickname “child’s chakathra” for their lightweight builds (because supposedly even a child could swing the smaller chakathras). The name is a misnomer, and only idiots would ever dismiss the deadly potential of the child’s chakathra as being a children’s innocent plaything. |
